Subplots to get you excited for the season: Kyle Orton
I like Rex Grossman. Usually not as a quarterback, but through the media, he always seemed to be pretty good-humored guy with a lot of potential. Every Monday, he had a decent quote or two that was usually funny, so needless to say, I rooted for the guy.
I like to be entertained, what can I say.
But, I’m glad it’s over because I couldn’t take the columnists and talk radio hosts bashing my guy. It was hard on me, and I quickly grew tired of how mean the Chicago media could be. On top of that, a lot of people had the tendency to blame Rexy for everything and forgot how bad the rest of the team’s players were.
Well, that won’t be an issue this season. Orton is in, and I expect him to have a long leash, and every chance to succeed. The coaching staff is as sick of Grossman as the drive-time radio hosts are.
Now, everyone can focus on the rest of the team’s weaknesses. Sure, there problems at quarterback are legendary, but the way they’ve struggled to draft offensive players is amazing. Though, I guess there is a bright side to not having any receivers and such.
