Is Jerry Manuel fiery enough for the Mets?

Published by Erick Ward at 10:57 am under MLB, New York Mets Edit This

When Mets GM Omar Minaya left New York to follow and meet with his team in Anaheim, it was a bad sign for Willie Randolph. And after he was fired at 3 a.m. on Tuesday morning, it was a really bad sign. Now, the Jerry Manuel era begins in New York.

Of course, Manuel is the former Manager of the Year when he was with the White Sox in 2000. The White Sox came out of nowhere, improved by 20 wins, won the AL Central, had the most wins in the AL… and then got swept by the Mariners in the first-round of the playoffs. Three years later he was out of Chicago.

Ken Williams let him go after the White Sox finished second in the AL Central in 2003. A lot of White Sox fans were happy to see him go because he wasn’t fire and passionatey enough for their taste. Then the Sox brought Ozzie Guillen, fire and passionate problem solved.
